Bid Writer
We are recruiting for a Bid Writer for our national business team. The role will be based at our head office in Nottingham with potential travel throughout the region. Initial works include writing of quality tender submissions for works including, Highways, Major Projects and Civil Engineering works throughout varying sectors with the position taking on the writing lead in all relevant fields.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Assist the Head of Pre-Construction and other Bid Writers in developing a bid structure, so that the McCann response answers to the questions set by the client are presented in a clear and concise manner, in a way that highlights skills, competency and track record, to attract the highest evaluation scores.
- Proactively develop and manage a network of Subject Matter Experts. For most bids Subject Matter experts will be McCann employees, for some issues they may come from the wider McCann community and occasionally they may be external consultants recruited to provide specialist support.
- Lead and facilitate face to face storyboard session workshops with the Bid Team, to establish the flow and content of the ‘story’ McCann wishes to portray in a bid submission.
- Provide advice on flow, language and grammar to Subject Matter Experts.
- Identify and re-work existing pre-written content where relevant, this is primarily bid material, but not exclusively so and may include presentations and key correspondence prepared by the New Business Manager and Directors.
- Coach Subject Matter Experts in best practice writing for bids, client presentations and sales collateral.
- Write / edit responses for bids, client presentations and sales collateral.
- Involvement in producing marketing copy including Press Releases, Newsletters, Internal
Communications etc. - Completion of PQQ’s and Supply Chain Questionnaires.
- Deliver a completed written bid response to the Head of Pre-Construction, against the deadlines, escalating issue as required.
- Prepare presentations that are cohesive and coherent to bids submitted.
- Management of the department tender register – downloading new tenders, tender queries etc to company standards.
SKILLS:

We are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor for our national business team. The role will be based at our head office in Nottingham with travel throughout the region. Initial works include street lighting renewal, signage installation, general civil engineering and technology works.
Works include management of multiple projects simultaneously so experience in portfolio management is advantageous.
DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management and control of commercial aspects of the projects.
- Measurement, contract administration, record keeping, maintaining key schedules for information and procurement, tendering and placement.
- Direct interface / liaison with the client’s delivery team.
- Responsibility for the quantity surveying functions.
- Procurement and management of subcontracts.
- Pricing of contract and third party works
- Identification and management of change control.
- Use of and input in the business costing system.
- Management and accurate maintenance of cost reporting / forecasting (internal and client reporting). Provision of accurate and timely commercial reports.

We’re seeking an individual to join our team as a Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality, and Welfare Advisor (HSEQW) for the Suffolk contract. This role will primarily focus on ensuring health, safety, environmental, quality, and welfare standards are upheld within the contract, with additional support required for other regional projects as necessary.
REQUIRED CRITICAL SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS:
- Demonstrating a solid understanding of Health and Safety legislation and implementing it effectively.
- Ensuring adherence to internal management systems within the company.
- Providing internal support on HSEQW matters.
- Reporting findings to both the HSEQW Manager and General Manager.

J McCann currently has an opportunity for a HIAB Operative to join our North West Delivery Team. Your role will be to assist with the installation of Road Lighting, Traffic Signs, and other associated equipment, including excavation, cable laying, installation and the removal of columns, signposts, and feeder pillars.
Please note that the successful candidate will need to be available for 24hr callouts on a rota basis to attend emergency works, where required.

You will be involved in the relationships with all Utility Companies, supporting the pre-constructions and operations team, setting strategy, and delivering it through the management of leadership of the team.
Required Critical Behaviours
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role
- HV Electrical experience up to 11KV – 132kV
- Experience of working with all Utility disciplines
- Experience of planning and co-ordinating services and site activities
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
- Experience of managing a team
- NCO(G) and NCO(W) for mains and services
- NRSWA Accreditation
- Commercial awareness of daily operations and P&L
- NERS assessing officer
- HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or similar degree with Electrical / Power
- Comfortable with managing Gas and Water projects within Multi Utilities not just solely electrical
- Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate with people at all levels
- Full UK driving licence
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage procedures and guidance documents to maintain NERS/WIRS/GIRS accreditations.
- Identify project team needs and create a look ahead plan with key timings and actions for all utilities services
- Have a working knowledge of the design submissions to the relevant providers.
- Engage with Utility suppliers to source the most economical point of connections and where applicable progress with the PoC to secure future connection and load.
- Keep up to date with changes in the industry, legislation, and latest practices.
