Main duties/responsibilities

- To take telephone calls from clients, customers and internal managers/staff

- Accurately record all essential information on the in-house system

- Provide general administrative support

CAD Technician - Street Lighting

Base: Sowerby Bridge, Calderdale

We have an exciting opportunity for a CAD Technician to join our Design Team. The ideal candidate will have up-to-date knowledge of CAD software & a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines with ability to stay organised and manage own workload and identify when others may need support.

Other duties & responsibilities will include:

- To work to a brief agreed with the technical Manager.
- Create accurate CAD drawings.
- Present work in a professional manor utilising CAD and other software.
- Be responsible for all build drawings highlighting specifications for the Contracts Department.
- To work to the programme schedule and liaise with the technical Manager to prioritise any key changes to the programme to manage workload effectively
- Working as a team player to support colleagues under pressure and demonstrating full commitment to a project.
- Review different presentation styles to ensure you are up to date with current market trends.

Contract manager (Street lighting)

Due to continued growth McCann’s Limited are recruiting for a Street lighting contract manager to join their team in West Yorkshire.

Your main objective will be to ensure all contract deliverables and KPI’s are consistently met and achieved, driving efficiencies and improvements. You will act as the primary contact for the client and be responsible for the performance of McCann’s direct labour and sub-contractors;

- Be responsible for the overall management of the contract. Providing operational leadership on the project from planning stage to commercial completion.
- Ensure all tasks are programmed, planned, supervised and executed in accordance with specifications, drawings, dimensions and within agreed commercial constraints.
- Ensure scheme compliance with TMA notifications.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with McCann’s policies.
- Ensure all work instructions are in line with agreed target cost orders and that any changes to work requests are formally recorded through the NEC framework.
- To be responsible for the management of all health & safety related matters and ensure that all employees/supply chain partners are briefed on the risks and control measures.
- To assist in the pricing of future scheme activities and complete ECI design work requirements.
- To actively promote continuous improvement within McCann’s.
- To monitor performance of teams (quality, health & safety, work performance) and report on the findings.
- To provide operational assistance to colleagues.
- Undertake line manager responsibilities of direct reports.

Key Competencies;

- Able to demonstrate delivery of street lighting programmes through the supervision of operational staff
- Demonstrate exceptional practical site skills in highway construction management
- Must have knowledge of the most economical and effective way of managing projects using NEC principles to ensure a high level of productivity in the work place.
- Must be able to apply a thorough working knowledge of the New Roads and Street Works Act
- Minimum relevant qualification - SMSTS or HNC in relevant discipline (or equivalent)
- Able to construct detail construction programmes that can be delivered to cost and time
- Able to demonstrate how highway schemes are delivered whilst meeting health & safety, quality & environment standards.
- At least 10 years experience in street lighting in either a term service contract or a PFI where a complete solution is to be delivered from lighting design to certification.

Street lighting operatives

We are recruiting for Street Lighting Operatives to join our growing team. The successful candidate(s) will be responsible for carrying out all aspect of electrical installation and maintenance works in Calderdale, West Yorkshire.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Surveying, TR22, asset data collection
- Planned and reactive maintenance
- Installation of lighting column and LED technology
- Assisting in electrical testing activities
- Excavation and reinstatement
- Working at heights (MEWP)
- There will be a requirement to work some unsociable hours and overtime and to undertake emergency call out and standby when required


- Street lighting or highways experience
- G39 certification
- HEA Approved
- IPAF qualified
- Manual handling
- Abrasive wheels
- First Aid
- Holder of valid driving licence
- Excellent communication skills (verbal/written)


- HGV Class 2
- NRSWA Units 1 to 9
- HIAB operations
