Cambridgeshire Guided Bus Way
With Cambridgeshire being one of the fastest growing counties in the country the need to provide an efficient and sustainable intermodal transport link between Cambridge and St Ives was identified by the County Council as early as 2003.
The 26km guided busway currently being constructed will when completed later this year be the longest of its kind in the world. It will provide high quality, reliable and frequent bus services with associated Park and Ride facilities to the thousands of new residents who will move to Cambridgeshire over the coming years.
Main contractor BAM Nuttall are constructing the busway along what was the old rail link between the two cities, with McCann’s being responsible for the provision of lighting to both the busway and its associated car parks, signage and power supply.
