We recently collected our second consecutive RoSPA Gold Award!

In May this year, we were pleased to announce that we had been named as a Gold award-winner at the annual RoSPA Health and Safety Awards, for the second year in a row.

We successfully achieved the Gold award in the prestigious annual scheme run by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) - in this, the centenary year for the family-safety charity.  It is also a landmark year for us as we celebrate our 50th year in business within the civil and electrical engineering sector.

The presentation of the award took place during a ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole hotel on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 and the award was collected by the Office based HSEQ team; John Spencer, Donna Mooney, Kim Spencer and Ben Feltham.

At the ceremony’s glittering evening Gala Dinner - which is a highly-regarded event where the most prestigious awards are presented, the collection party were supported by other members of both the Office and Site operational staff.  John McCann, who was unable to be present said, “I am delighted with this award for a second year and am sorry that I could not attend personally.  The range of people who have attended demonstrates our commitment to Safety at all points within the business.

Through the RoSPA Awards scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement. The award is now in its 61st year.

We were crowned with the same award in 2016, which is testament to our strong internal ‘health and safety culture’ - reflected by our RIDDOR Accident Frequency Rate, which has remained at Zero for the  last Four years.

Speaking ahead of the event, Julia Small, RoSPA’s head of awards and events, said: “The RoSPA Awards are the most prestigious in the world of occupational health and safety, and held in high regard around the world, as winning one demonstrates an organisation’s commitment to maintaining an excellent health and safety record. Achieving the standard required is no mean feat.

“This is a special year in the history of RoSPA, and we congratulate all of our winners in this, our centenary year”.
